Written as a discussion with the reader, Religions of the World: A Question of Faith starts the journey of studying world religions. Interwoven into this narrative is Jay Lamb’s own quest for understanding, communicated through the passion and curiosity that he has found in his search for answers. He wrestles with a number of religious questions and tries to discover, in a rational way, what makes the most sense. Readers are invited to join the conversation.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jay Lamb taught world religions and philosophy for over 20 years at the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Virginia. Trying to understand and explain various religious beliefs has been a major pursuit of his adult life.

A note to readers: Triple Fire Press originally launched to share Jay Lamb’s vision about how understanding world religions can help us understand each other and bring a little more peace to the world. He began writing his ideas as a professional educator and then later continued as a blog, where Lamb continued his discussions of various beliefs. He drafted his world religion memoir, detailing how his traditional Catholic upbringing led him to grapple with with the Big Questions. After his book went into publication, Lamb was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He passed away in 2023. We like to believe he has found the answers.

PRAISE FOR Religions of the world

“This book is written in a very engaging, conversational tone, so reading it is like sitting down and having a chat over a cup of tea with someone who has spent his career teaching and thinking about the topics being discussed. It's thoroughly delightful.”

“Lamb has written a thorough and very readable explanation of all major and several minor religions based on his decades of experience of teaching about religion in one of the best public high schools in the nation. The warmth and humor that endeared him to his students comes through clearly in this book.”

“Thoughtful and thought-provoking tour of world religions.”
